We’re realigning our courses to the new ISTE Standards to equip today’s educator with the knowledge & skills to impact student learning. This realignment allows us to continue to improve the COETAIL experience while staying true to our ethos. The themes of COETAIL Courses 3 & 4 are Visual Communication and Learner-Driven Instruction. Focusing on developing as Collaborators, Designers, and Facilitators, COETAILers report that these are 2 of their favorite courses.

We reached out to our COETAIL alumni to better understand how they grew during the COETAIL program.

The next ISTE Standard in our series is Collaborator:

ISTE Standards for Educators // Collaborator
Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems. Educators:
4a.
Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology.
4b.
Collaborate and co-learn with students to discover and use new digital resources and diagnose and troubleshoot technology issues.
4c.
Use collaborative tools to expand students’ authentic, real-world learning experiences by engaging virtually with experts, teams and students, locally and globally.
4d.
Demonstrate cultural competency when communicating with students, parents and colleagues and interact with them as co-collaborators in student learning.

Eduro Learning embraces a community approach to learning. We believe that our community is essential to COETAIL’s identity so we are letting their voices speak for the program. Below, COETAILers share how they grew as Collaborators during their journey.

 

This has been my favorite part of COETAIL. I’ve virtually met and collaborated with people from all over the world that have inspired me to try new things and take bigger risks. Sometimes a question, a Tweet, or a blog post will open my eyes to possibilities for my own classroom or my own learning journey.

COETAIL is one big happy rhizome of teachers and classrooms. It is its own force of connectedness and allows for educators, classrooms, and students to experience the world. It only took some prompting and knowing how to use the right tools for me to quickly find my voice in other’s classrooms and vice versa. The impact professionally has been the biggest change in my career. Course 5 Project – Art students quad-blogging and offering feedback about work in progress.

During our tech team meetings, I was able to collaborate with other teachers to find solutions to the problems they face. During our year-level meetings, I was able to collaborate with year-level teachers to enrich their lessons with different technology tools to improve and deepen the teaching and their students’ learning.

I’ve participated in several mini-workshops (as leader or contributor) discussing ways that technology can enhance learning. I also collaborate with my PLN to develop ideas and share tools and experiences. In class, my students collaboratively write, speak, and peer-assess. They’re more independent and I see an increased level of engagement and learning.
