Hi Meghan,
Your video turned out great! I got a lot of good ideas from it. Your reflection clearly stated everything you have gotten from this course, despite our challenging location. See you at the American club!

I do think that showing them the results of the videos would definitely change the nature of how they feel about it. It brings a little bit more accountability and exposure to what they are doing in the classroom, and as long as it is integrated into a learning purpose (like reading) it could really help them.

Well apparently I have noticed that times have changed to great extent.Earlier there were times when we used to dress up for the sake of getting our pictures clicked but now days every moment can be captured by a click as we use them in our teaching practices but I have noticed that the outdoor surroundings are still more organic to capture than in the boundaries of the classrooms. Also the fact the more we use more our targets to capture them in our lens there still would be few who would enjoy the click as getting a crown and few who struggle and shy away from it.But one thing is for sure that when we take a video of them while reading there performance gets better each day........

Hi Meghan! I would suggest Marc Prensky's March 2013 article "Our Brains Extended" from Educational Leadership. In the article, he states that technology is key to education and life and that it should be viewed as more important to our students than reading is. You can find the article here: http://www.ascd.org/publications/educational-leadership/mar13/vol70/num06/Our-Brains-Extended.aspx

Thanks for the comments Rachella. I would have to agree with all your comments as well. Of course, networking has always been around, and in a way, this is probably the form I'm most likely to be comfortable with. Still, the effort just to read the RSS feed is often a bit too much for me, so I'd have to find a way to manage the twitter very carefully before it's worth it. After all, even educators I respect have tweets about summer flowers and such, and I'm not sure how much time I need to spend reading things like that from people I barely (or don't) know. Still, the potential benefits... I'll keep trying. And sure I'll accept a friendship request! No time like the present for networking. :)

Meghan - a million yeses to everything you said. I am also an introvert but I've recently been making an effort to really push past my comfort zones and reach out to people. It's hard though and I really have to force myself.

It can all be so exhausting and, at times, it also feels sort "gross" to me; all the "pay attention to me!" stuff & knowing people just to network although not everyone is like that, I know. I've been on Twitter for 5+ yrs although I don't log on all that often, I've never tweeted & have no plans to in the near future. I'm pretty quiet on fb. But, I also like to know they're there and I can connect when I'm comfortable & step away when I need a bit of alone time.

Relationships & community are important so I'm trying to think of the PLN as more friendly than network-y; the whole "strangers are just friends I haven't yet met" idea.

Good luck working through your PLN paralysis (and I wont be offended at all if you don't accept the friendship request I sent you earlier today via the COETAIL site. :) )

Agreed to all of that Ruchira! I will try to PLN experience, and perhaps even take to it, but I know in my heart I could never tweet or read tweets several times a day. I just need my space. That said, I love the idea of having people to turn to, and the idea of giving back, so I'll try...soon. :)

Hi Meghan,

I resonate with your thinking, I guess coz' I am an introvert too. One of you comments - " As an introvert, I need time away from other people" stood out for me. Being an introvert I prefer quiet, minimally stimulating environments, and so the idea of a PLN where I am constantly connected online has been a little unnerving. I have a Facebook presence but I am a passive user. I do have a Twitter but its barely used. I find myself using other mediums for expanding my learning but those which mostly do not involve online networking/ interactions with people...so I will go to Pinterest rather than Tweet. I find myself reading, absorbing, assimilating information that comes my way rather than asking for information. A part of me feels guilty about not 'returning' the gesture by not sharing and adding to the Bank of Learning for others to use.
I'm sure there's a ton of value in having a PLN but yet to experience it as I have been unable to bring myself to maximize its potential for my own self, probably due to my personality style.
I just enjoy working in solitude, right or not? I don't know...
