I am glad you suggested that I watch this video. While I appreciate the optimistic view of education, I found myself disagreeing with much of the prediction.

This is a great dilemma. I say that because it is exactly the thing that matters most … the conversation about rubrics. I don’t know that there is a right way and the fact that you are questioning the peramiters […]

Linc Jackson commented on the blog post Flipping Out – Reflections on the Flipped Classroom 1 year, 5 months ago
Hi Mary,
I am really impressed with the amount of research and articulation of the topic. As you point out the appropriateness varies by subject, but I also find that it varies by age. You can easily get out of perspective if you get too caught up it the wave. -
Linc Jackson commented on the blog post Technology Integration – What does it really mean? 1 year, 5 months ago
Impressive post, Mary. It sounds like you are making steady progress in the integration of technology. I firmly believe that it does not have to be earth shattering novelty to be a good teaching moment that includes technology. For an example see my blog.

Thanks to …http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeanbaptistem Working at an international school in Indonesia, our English speaking students are learning to speak indonesian. The Indonesian teacher has asked for lots of support learning to use her new macbook pro. Also we have added some Windows machines (some of the older models) to her classroom so…[Read more] -
Linc Jackson commented on the blog post My Flipped Teaching 1 year, 5 months ago
I wish I had the time and motivation to put some other examples onto the blog. I love to flip in the sense of reversing the look or the roles. Unfortunately, we are so consumed with tests and benchmarks that creativity gets very little reward from those who carry the most weight. The kids will [...]

Thanks for your comment and the link to your web page. I really enjoy reading and thinking about the implications for our kids. I think you can flip a classroom once a month with ease and make it valuable. Possibly even once a week. But for me I love variety and I love the way [...]

I’m with you, Ben! When I did my first Masters Degree it was mostly learning material without testing my creativity much. This program let’s us grow as we talk and type between ourselves and others on the web. Nice big audience. Lots of thinking and comparing and and rethinking and sharing. The major drawback is [...]

Cool journey Lauren. I would love to see your class someday. I returned to the education field after switching to the non-profit sector (camp director at a camp for kids with special needs) and after a long stint out of the technology role. While some things in ed tech are the same, lots has changed [...]

As a technology integrator I have been fortunate enough to be asked by the foreign language teacher in my school to help her integrate technology into her classroom curriculum. In our last meeting I started by simply saying “what grade would you like to focus on this week?” while substantial rubrics for integration are readily available [...] -

Thanks for the note Piage. I am with you on the breath holding. I love the moment of teaching when kids say “wow, that’s really cool.” Really good teachers find authentic, meaningful ways to make that happen. It is a lot harder to measure how well teachers do that. The correlation to test scores is [...]

Pictures by Linc Jackosn In an interesting blog, Jeff Utecht, commented on being tired of hearing of the term “Technology Integration.” Jeff’s complaint is right to the point and the term itself doesn’t really due justice to the goal of helping classroom teachers use the technology to help them with their classroom objectives. While the [...]
