Hi Everyone! I am happy to join the group!
I have a burning issue I would welcome advice on…
It seems that the majority of online web 2.0 tools I was exploring to use with my Grade 5′s, stipulate in there Terms and Privacy conditions that their websites and services are intended for people age 13 or older.
This is because these websites…[Read more]-

COPA is a difficult beast and it all depends on the site. If the site offers school based subscriptions they usually allow younger kids to use it is done through the school and they agree to follow COPPA (Google Apps is a prime example). Also, as COPPA is a purely American law I don’t know if legally they would be able to enforce this…[Read more]

Yes, Viviane,
This concerns me too. I have a grade 5 class. We are a Google Apps school so we fall under that school based subscription umbrella. Hi, a colleague an I would like to start a classroom platform for student PLN’s and other collaboration. Any suggestions for sites to use as the platform? Safe and easy to access would be a priority for us.
Thanks

Hi Andre, I use a website called storybird.com. This website let’s students choose a piece of art and use it as a catalyst and illustration for a story they write. They are allowed to comment on the work of their peers, ”like” a story, etc… I think it is a fun and safe way to let the students interact online and learn about commenting.

I have just joined COETAIL and I’m moving to India soon-from China- where blogs won’t be blocked and technology should be easier. I am hoping to have my students maintain electronic portfolios. I’d like them to use these during their student led conferences. Any tips for the best way to keep electronic portfolios. Also, the teachers at my new…[Read more]
