Coetail 5-The Final Cut

Classroom’s a mess. Computers and papers languish on desks like sentinels, guarding the excitement that permeated this learning space for the past few weeks. Students scurry to complete a project. Last minute tweaks end up in digital trashcans…lost forever in the search for glory…the 5th grade equivalent of the Oscar’s maybe? The red carpet is about to unfold and “the final cut” is due.

Nervous student ( and may I say my own) glances pace each entry into the classroom. Parents arrive, administrators queue for the privilege of viewing this extravaganza, standing room only for other staff as the lights dim.

The Audience

After a brief introduction and overview of the whole project, the audience was treated to the presentations. Judges officiated and deliberated on critical presentation skills that each group had to demonstrate.Websites were on show and parents and teachers  graded the sites using a rubric.

What follows is the director’s cut and unseen footage of what can only be described as a trans-formative experience for students and this teacher who had the privilege of “creating change“.
